Harry Potter Parody Potted Potter Eyes Off-Broadway Run

Potted Potter, a musical parody of the popular Harry Potter book series by J. K. Rowling, is eyeing an off-Broadway run after successful mountings in London and Toronto, according to The New York Times. The production hopes to begin performances this summer starring the show’s creators, Daniel Clarkson and Jefferson Turner. No official performance dates or theater have been set.

In Potted Potter, Clarkson and Turner perform a retelling of all seven Harry Potter books in only 70 minutes, switching in and out of costumes, playing multiple characters and even performing a quidditch tournament, complete with help from the audience.

Clarkson and Jefferson are former children’s BBC hosts, appearing on TV’s Blue Peter and TMI. Clarkson’s additional film and TV credits include Big Brother’s Little Brother, Where the Heart Is, The Usual Children, The Guilty Hunter and Finding Beckham. Turner’s additional TV credits include The Slammer.

Potted Potter isn’t the first Harry Potter musical parody to grace the stage. Before becoming a Glee sensation, Darren Criss starred in A Very Potter Musical at the University of Michigan in 2009, produced by StarKid Productions. Check out a clip from Criss' parody below.
